Light: Coelogynes prefer bright light with no direct sunlight. 1500-2000 footcandles.
Temperature: Coelogynes prefer intermediate to cool temperatures depending on the species. Coelogyne mooreana and cristata, for example, grow best outside in temperatures ranging from a daytime high of 85 to an evening low of 32 degrees.
Water: Coelogynes should be kept moist at all times and only allowed to dry slightly during the winter months. Coelogyne cristata and mossiae, require a very dry period during the winter months in order for them to flower in the spring.
Use a 20-20-20 fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season, and once a month in the winter (except those species which require a dry winter season). |
